Had some rain a couple weeks ago and saw water was finding its way into the boat. In order to stop the leaks, I put the new chainplates on the boat over the last couple weekends.
Looking at the hull, I may have to wet sand it down and wax it.
Congratulations! The new plates look fantastic! A note on the butyl and ceiling replacement. I bedded some stanchions on my Catalina in butyl and I found that the butyl continued to compress for some months as the weather warmed and required tightening twice. So, I would leave the ceiling boards off until you're sure they stop moving. You can slice away the butyl with a credit card or razor and then dab the loose bits with a wad of butyl. Goop hand cleaner works well for getting butyl or uncured polyester laminate off your hands. I'll drop you an email about your old plates.
Thanks Matt. Makes sense. I had butyl squeeze out when it warmed up when I did the deck handrails. No hurry to put it all back together anyway. Plenty of other work to go around.
Yes the chainplate installation looks great. And the motor looks brand new! I was not aware of the Beckson clear covers-nice idea. Things are coming along aboard and thanks for the video to provide a glimpse of what you're using and how things go together, good stuff.
